On the very first day of the T20 World Cup, a big upset has happened. Scotland beat Bangladesh by 6 runs in the second match of Qualifier Group B. Batting first after losing the toss, Scotland scored 140 for 9 wickets. Chris Greaves scored 45 runs in 28 balls. In reply, Bangladesh team could score only 134 runs in 20 overs for the loss of 7 wickets. Mushfiqur Rahim scored the highest 38 runs. Greaves took two wickets and was adjudged man of the match.

The winner of the match was decided in the last over. Bangladesh needed 24 runs to win in the 20th over of the innings. Bangladesh needed 18 runs to win and 17 runs to tie in the last three balls. But Mehndi Hasan could only score 4, 6 and 1 runs in these three balls. Shafyan Sharif bowled the last over.

Bangladesh’s defeat in this match means that it will now be difficult for them to top Group A. For this, the rest of Scotland’s matches will have to be a victim of vicissitudes. If the Scotland team wins the match against Papua New Guinea and Oman, then it will become the topper of this group.

The top team of this group will be with India and Pakistan in the Super-12. In this situation, Bangladesh team will go to the group comprising Australia, England, South Africa and West Indies. Facing these teams on UAE grounds may be easier than playing teams like India and Pakistan.

Two matches will also be played on the second day of T20 World Cup. The first match under Group A of the Qualifiers will be between Ireland and the Netherlands. The match will start at 3:30 pm. At the same time, the second match will be played between Namibia and Sri Lanka from 7:00 pm.
