Shubman Gill is an Indian professional cricketer who plays for Punjab in domestic cricket and the Kolkata Knight Riders in the Indian Premier League. He was born on 8 September 1999 to Lakhwinder Singh and Keart Gill in a small town called Fazilka in Punjab. His nickname is Shubhi, and he is widely acknowledged for his compact technique and aggressive stroke play.

Shubman Gill has seen a rapid incline in his career graph. At a very young age, he has achieved numerous honours and looks set for bigger things. This highly talented young batsman was a largely unknown commodity until he featured in the Junior World Cup in 2018. He shot to attention with 418 runs at 104.50 and was the Player of the Tournament in the U19 World Cup.

Shubman made his Indian Premier League debut in 2018 and hasn’t looked back since then. He was also adjudged the ‘Emerging Player of the Year’ in IPL 2019 for his consistent performances. The 21-year-old has played in different batting orders and has succeeded in almost all of them, particularly as an opener. In 41 IPL appearances, the young lad from Punjab has scored 938 runs with an average of 33.5 and a strike rate of 125.2.
