Prithvi Shaw is an Indian professional player and former India national under-19 cricket team captain. He was born on November 9, 1999, in Maharashtra’s Vihar. Shaw is a right-handed batsman and an off-spinner. He represents Mumbai in the Ranji Trophy and Delhi Capitals in the Indian Premier League. A right-handed opening batsman, Prithvi Shaw, made his first international appearance on October 4 2018. After Sachin Tendulkar, he became the second-youngest Indian player to make a Test hundred and the youngest Indian to do so on Test debut.
Prithvi Shaw made his Indian Premier League debut against KXIP at Feroz Shah Kotla stadium in Delhi on April 23, 2018. The youngster smashed 22 runs in 10 balls while opening for his team Delhi Daredevils (now Delhi Capitals). In the IPL 2018 auctions, he had been bought by Delhi Daredevils for Rs 1.2 crore and was retained for the 2019 season of IPL.
The 21-year-old is the youngest player to open the innings in the IPL history. He is also the joint-youngest cricketer to score an IPL fifty, along with Sanju Samson (18 years and 169 days). Overall, Prithvi Shaw has featured in 38 IPL games so far and amassed 826 runs at an average of 23.92 and a strike rate of 141.03. This includes four half-centuries; his best score is 99, which he scored in the 12th season of IPL.
