The COVID-19 outburst has brought the sporting events in the world to a halt. To add to the misery, the sportsmen have also started to be infected with the disease. Recently, two well known tennis players were found corona positive. The cricketing world is also hit by the disease.
Here’s a list of players who have been found COVID-19 positive.
Pakistan all-rounder Shadab Khan was the latest name to be found corona positive. The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) on Monday confirmed the news that the spinner was suffering with the diesase. He was asymptomatic.
Haider Ali had made a good name for himself in a short span of time but his career has come to a standstill after he too was found COVID-19 positive along with Shadab Khan. He is also asymptomatic.
Haris Rauf is one of the three players who have added to the list recently. Rauf is the third cricketer in the list who was asymptomatic.
Former Pakistan captain Shahid Afridi also tested positive for coronavirus. The former cricketer gave the news himself after tweeting about it. Though, his condition has now got better.
Taufeeq Umar was earlier tested positive for the disease. He said his symptoms were not that severe and requested his friends and well-wishers to pray for his speedy recovery. He was the second Pakistan cricketer to be tested positive for COVID-19.
Zafar Sarfraz, a 50-year-old former first-class cricketer passed away due to Corona last month.
Former Bangladesh skipper Mashrafe Mortaza was also tested positive. The right-arm fast bowler was unwell for the past couple of days.
“Bhaia (brother) has been suffering from fever for two days. Covid-19 test was conducted on Friday and we got the result today. He has been found positive for the virus. Bhaia is now staying in isolation at home in Dhaka. Please pray for him,” Mortaza’s younger brother Morsalin Bin Mortaza told United News of Bangladesh.
Nafees Iqbal who is Tameem Iqbal’s elder brother also test positive.
Left-arm spinner Nazmul who took part in virus aid work in his hometown of Narayanganj is another Bangladesh cricketer who is infected with the disease. “I don’t know how I got it. My parents also tested positive along with me,” the 28-year-old told AFP Sunday.
Fakhar Zaman, Imran Khan, Kashif Bhatti, Mohammad Hafeez, Mohammad Hasnain, Mohammad Rizwan and Wahab Riaz have all tested positive for COVID-19, Pakistan Cricket Board confirmed on Tuesday (June 23).
Note: Sourav Ganguly’s elder brother Snehasish’s wife has tested positive for COVID-19. Earlier, Senhashish’s mother-in-law and father-in-law also test positive for the same last week. Apart from this, a domestic help at CAB secretary’s Mominpur home was also found positive.
