Pakistan cricket team is sitting at the helm of the T20I rankings but the way they have played in the three-match series against Sri Lanka in Lahore doesn’t really please the spectators and fans. They lost the series 3-0.
Here’s a look at some of the events where Sarfaraz Ahmed-led side has disappointed their fans.
ICC Champions Trophy 2017 Group B match
India batted first in this game and posted a total of 319/3 in 48 overs. The top four batsmen struck individual half-centuries during the course. In reply, Pakistan were bowled out for 164 to lose the match by 124 runs (D/L Method). Though later they went on to win the trophy.
ICC World Cup 2019 Group Match
India once again batted first and this time posted another massive total of 336/5 in 50 overs. Rohit Sharma top-scored with a brisk 140. The game was then reduced to 40 overs due to rain and the revised target for Pakistan was 302. They failed to go over the line and lost the match by 89 runs (D/L Method). But the defeat was not the only thing that made the headlines but a “yawning” Sarfaraz Ahmed during the match grabbed the attention. Apart from this, reactions from some Pakistan fans too went viral on social media.

International cricket returned to Pakistan with Sri Lanka’s tour. They did start off well with winning the ODI series but soon rubbed it off with a whitewash defeat in T20Is. Sri Lanka had sent a second-string team while Pakistan made few changes in their team staff. Misbah-ul-Haq was named chief selector and head coach while Waqar Younis was given the responsibility of a bowling coach. But this 3-0 defeat, especially in their own backyard, has raised some questions.
