India began their Test championship in a fascinating manner after beating West Indies in the first Test of the two-match series by 318 runs in Antigua. The Virat Kohli-led Indian team is at the helm with 60 points with one game left in the series and is followed by New Zealand and Sri Lanka with 60 points and a couple of games each. At number four, is Australia with 32 points and England at five with 32 points. Australia won the first Ashes Test, the second ended in a draw and the third one went in England’s favour.

The points awarded are as follows.

  • The team is awarded 60 points for the win in a two-match Test series.
  • If the match ends in a draw in a two-match series, then the sides will get 30 points each and if it ends in a tie, the teams get 20 points each.
  • In a three-match series, the team that wins the match gets 40 points, in case of a tie, the two sides get 20 points each and 13 each for a draw or no result.
  • In a four-match series, the team that wins the match gets 30 points, in case of a tie, the two sides get 15 points each and in case of a draw or no result, the teams get 10 points each.
  • In a five-match Test series, the team that wins the match gets 24 points, 12 if there is a draw or no result and eight if it is a tie.
