The four-team Women’s T20 Challenge will take place as planned on the sidelines of IPL 2020’s playoffs in the UAE, the BCCI President Sourav Ganguly confirmed.

“I can confirm to you that the women’s IPL is very much on and we do have a plan in place for the national team also,” Ganguly was quoted as saying by the Press Trust of India.

Apart from this, a series in South Africa and West Indies is also in line and the talks are going on for the same. The T20 challenge’s schedule might tinker the plans for Women’s BBL that is scheduled to begin on October 17.

The Indian cricketers might not be able to take part in the Australian T20 league. This also means that some of the Australian players would go missing from the Women’s T20 Challenge.

The tournament is being considered as the beginning of a concrete step towards Women’s IPL in the future.
