The 1983 World Cup winning side changed Indian Crickets landscape for- ever. The captain of that epoch making side and himself an architect of that stupendous success Kapil Dev, recently said that the current Indian side under Virat Kohli is doing very well and there is no pressure on them.

Reacting to comparisons going around in the media between Kohli, MS Dhoni and himself ,and suggestions that Kohli is not in league with Kapil and Dhoni because Indian team has not won a World cup under him , was strongly refuted by Kapil, he said “There is no pressure on the Indian team, they are doing well it is not like that you need to win a World Cup to be called a good team. Virat is doing well. Saurav Ganguly did very well, how can we forget Sunil Gavaskar both were great captains too despite not winning the World Cup. Lifting the World Cup is not everything how you shape as a team and a sustained performance level matters.” Dev added.

Kohli enjoys a stellar record as captain, he is being touted to become India’s most successful Captain ever in terms of total wins in Tests , ODIs and T/20 matches, he still has a fair amount of cricket left in him. With a couple of global series lined up in the coming years , Kohli will have a good chance to enter the club of World Cup winning captains.
