Former Indian cricketer Rudra Pratap Singh aka RP Singh said that he was quite surprised by Suresh Raina’s sudden announcement of retirement from international cricket. Raina announced his retirement on August 15 at around 8 pm, half an hour after Dhoni announced his retirement. RP Singh, however, believes that if he performs well in the IPL, he can return to the Indian team.

Recalling the old days spent with Raina, RP Singh said, “With Raina, I have played a lot of cricket since my junior days. As far as Raina’s retirement is concerned, people are saying that it is a decision taken in a hurry. I think everyone has to think personally about how physically fit they are, what is their chances of coming back in relation to the Indian team that would have played their part in Raina’s decision.

He said, who knows if he can score 1000 runs in IPL and can decide to play again. But when you decide to leave you to think a lot. Raina must have thought deeply about all the factors.

Who knows that he is looking for his place in the foreign league like Yuvraj. There is nothing wrong with this. What surprised me was the suddenness of their decision. Recently, in a conversation with Irfan Pathan, he was heard saying that he wants to return to Test cricket.

Be aware that Raina played the last match for India in 2018. He was part of India’s World Cup team in 2011, having won the World Cup for 28 years. During that World Cup match, Raina played a special role in the quarter-final and semi-finals.
