Former India fast bowler Ashish Nehra shared an experience where he got some help from Shahid Afridi and Shoaib Akhtar. The incident is from India-Pakistan semi-final in 2011 World Cup.

The high-voltage drama was due to take place in Mohali and the winner of the clash would march into the finals. Nehra was unable to arrange extra tickets for his family. Then came in Afridi and Akhtar and the two cricketers played their celebtiry card and helped Nehra.

“Everything happened very quickly, in 72 hours, everyone came to know that Pakistan is facing India in World Cup semifinals. And I have not seen anything like that. There were not too many five-star hotels in Chandigarh, there was one Mount View hotel and teams were staying in Taj. And I had seen people coming from America or England, you just name it, and they didn’t have tickets.”

The game saw the presence of celebrities from Bollywood to politicians. India defeated Pakistan in the semi-final and qualified for the finals where they met Sri Lanka and lifted the World Cup for the second time in the history of the game.
