“In the air and SreeSanth takes it,” an excited Ravi Shastri screamed from the commentary box. India had just won the inaugural World T20 and more importantly, MS Dhoni had announced his arrival at the helm position. India had a dismal run in the 50-over World Cup in 2007 and the senior players had opted out to play the T20 tournament.

This was when a young Dhoni grabbed the limelight alongwith other players at the highest level. India defeated arch-rivals Pakistan in the final in Johannesburg.

Batting first, Dhoni’s side put a decent total of 157/5 in 20 overs after Gautam Gambhir struck 75. Later, India bundled out Pakistan for 152 to win the tournament.
