Whenever we talk about Test cricket in the modern days, a debate surely pops up and this is about the comparison between India skipper Virat Kohli and Australia’s Steve Smith.
The two batsmen have a pretty different story but they have eventually achieved a lot for their country with their batting skills.
Former India cricketer and domestic circuit’s great Wasim Jaffer has chosen Smith over Kohli in the longer format. “I have to give it to Steve Smith for his form since return from suspension,” Jaffer said to Times Now when asked the best batsman in Test cricket.
Kohli though has achieved a lot of success in the recent past becoming the only Indian batsman to score seven double-centuries in the longer format. He has been leading the team from the front and tasted success in Tour Down Under as a skipper.
In 86 matches for India, Kohli has scored over 7000 runs at an average of over 53 including 22 hundreds.
On the other side, Smith has played 73 Test matches for Australia where he has struck 7227 runs, averaging 62.8 and has notched up 26 centuries.
