Naseem Shah the latest fast bowling sensation from Pakistan, was born on 15/ Feb /2003.He made his debut Vs Australia at the Gabba, in Nov 2019, at the age of 16 years and 279 days.
He belongs to lower Dir,in Khyber Pakhtunwa district which is closer to Afghanistan than Lahore. Convinced of his praise by local cricketers, his uncle took him to Lahore, at Abdul Qadir’s academy.
Where he progressed so quickly that he was selected for Pakistan under 16 team at the age of 14. By 15 he was playing for Pakistan under 19, in the Asia cup.
On his debut he made the cricketing world sit up and take notice ,when he bowled consistently at speeds of 88MPH.
Cricket Experts have hailed him as the next best thing for Pakistan cricket.
Andy Roberts who had coached him at a clinic two years ago was pleased to know the progress he has made and said “from what I see he has everything,it’s up to him now”.
17 year old Naseem has played 4 Tests so far,and scalped 13 wickets ,which includes a hat trick against Bangladesh in Rawalpindi.
Talking about Naseems probable faceoff with one of the leading batsman in the world Indian Captain Viraat Kohli, former Pakistani cricketer Faisal Iqbal,boasted,that the Indian Captain will be Naseem Shahs bunny’.”With due respect to Virat as a great,batsman I am sure our upcoming super star fast bowler Naseem with genuine pace and swing Virat will be his bunny anytime”
While he is yet to play India and Kohli,it is a prospect Shah is looking forward to, saying “yes India Vs Pakistan is always special and I have been told that players can become Heroes and Villains in those matches.”
“They are special matches,and yes I am looking forward to playing against India,and won’t let our fans down.” “As for Virat Kohli, I respect him him but don’t fear him. It’s always a challenge to bowl to the best but that’s where you have to raise your game.”
