India skipper Virat Kohli played a record-breaking innings during the side’s second Test against South Africa in Pune. Kohli smashed a career-best 254* and notched up his 7th double ton in Test cricket, most by an Indian batsman. With this knock, the Indian captain has gathered some points and reached within one point of top-ranked Steve Smith in the Test batsmen rankings.

While Smith has 937 points, Kohli now has 936 points under his belt. Along with Kohli, Mayank Agarwal who is in sublime form too broke into the top 20 for the first time.

In bowlers, off-spinner R Ashwin moved to 7th spot. Jasprit Bumrah who was earlier ruled out of the series due to injury is at number 3.
