Australia took command of the second Test on Day 2 after reducing New Zealand to 44/2 before the stumps were called on. Pat Cummins removed Tom Blundell who was looking pretty solid in the middle while James Pattinson got the prized wicket of Kane Williamson.

Earlier, Australia rode on a ton from Travis Head who scored 114 to take his team to a total of 467. Steve Smith struck a well-compiled 85 while the captain and wicket-keeper Tim Paine scored 79 for the side.

Neil Wagner scalped a four-for for New Zealand.
