Former Pakistan player Shoaib Akhtar, one of the world’s fastest bowlers, said that when Master Blaster Sachin Tendulkar first appeared in front of him, what was his reaction that he was a god, not a well.

Akhtar had bowled against Sachin Tendulkar in the first Test against India in 1999 and the match was played in Kolkata.

Akhtar told an interview to a news channel that I had heard that Sachin is the God of cricket.

The first time I saw him, he said that he is a god, it is not good. Akhtar said, neither he nor I recognized him at that time.

We were both in our Attitude. Akhtar said, I wanted to dismiss Sachin on the very first ball and it happened. There is no doubt that Akhtar bowled Sachin on the first ball in his first Test but after that match, Sachin always dominated Akhtar.

“I heard Sachin was the god. I said this is a god? Iss ki khairiyat nahi. He didn’t recognize me, and I didn’t recognize him. He was in his own attitude and I was in my attitude,” Akhtar told Pakistani news channel ARY News in an interview on Saturday.

It should be noted that in his first Test match against India, Akhtar had targeted VVS Laxman, Rahul Dravid and Venkatesh Prasad along with clean bowling of Sachin. Akhtar bowled brilliantly, taking 4 wickets for 71 runs. In the second innings also, he took 4 wickets and Pakistan won by 46 runs in that Test match.
