Taufeeq Umar was a regular opening batsman for Pakistan in Test matches.He was born in Karachi on 20/6/1981, and made his debut in 2001 Vs Bangladesh in Multan.

He had a start stop career ,where he really did not live up to the inntial promise he showed.He played in 44 Tests scored 2693 runs with 7 centuries and 14, 50s , at an average of 37.98.He scored a century on debut partnering Saied Anwar.

He wasn’t very successful in ODIs playing in 22 matches and scoring 504 runs at an average of 24. With 3 half centuries.He made a few comebacks to the Test team, after being dropped due to poor form, and finally retired in 2012.

Taufeeq said he was feeling a bit sick ,and on being tested on Monday 25 may he was declared Corona positive, based on his test report.He said his symptoms were not that severe and requested his friends and we’ll wishers to pray for his speedy recovery.

Umar is the second Pakistani cricketer to test positive for Coronavirus, Zafar Sarfraz a 50-year-old former first-class cricketer passed away due to Corona last month.
