We have often seen that people draw comparisons between Sachin Tendulkar and Virat Kohli and if the present India captain can break Tendulkar’s records or who among the two is a better player. Well, Kohli has always said that there is no reason and logic behind these comparisons and Sachin was, is and will remain the greatest player of all time.
Speaking about the same, former India opener Gautam Gambhir has said that Sachin Tendulkar was a better batsman than Virat.
“I’ll go with Sachin Tendulkar if we see the longevity and flow of the one-day cricket format. Look at how Sachin Tendulkar has played, different rules, that time 230 to 240, was a winning total,” Gambhir said while talking on Star Sports show ‘Cricket Connected’.
Virat, Tendulkar and Gambhir have played together for India and played instrumental role in the team’s winning triumph in World Cup 2011.
Tendulkar holds the record for the most number of runs and hundreds in both Tests and ODIs while he scored the first-ever double ton in men’s cricket in ODIs.
On the other hand, Kohli has already received the tag of being one of the most effiecient batsmen while chasing. He even scored the fastest ODI ton for India while chasing against Australia. He achieved the feat in 52 balls.
Sachin retired from all forms of the game back in 2013 while Gambhir hung his boots in 2018.
Virat has been leading Team India for quite sometime now across all formats. He had a brilliant run in Tour Downunder in Australia but had a disappointing run in New Zealand earlier this year.
India won the T20I series but lost the Tests and the ODIs against the Kiwis.
