Karnataka registered their first win of the Rani trophy season after beating rivals Tamil Nadu by 26 runs in Dindigul. Spinner Krishnappa Gowtham starred for his side with the ball after he picked up 8 wickets in the second innings as Tamil Nadu were bundled out for 154 while chasing 181.
Earlier, Karnataka scored 336 in the first innings after Devdutt Padikkal, Pavan Deshpande and Gowtham scored individual half-centuries. In reply to this Tamil Nadu managed to score 307, courtesy a ton from Dinesh Karthik. Gowtham picked 6 wickets in the first innings for Karnataka.
But the Tamil Nadu side responded well in the second innings and bowled out Karnataka for 151. R Ashwin bagged a four-for. Tamil Nadu then started off the chase in a decent manner but the introduction of Gowtham in the bowling attack played a massive role in the turnaround.
