WHO SAID WHAT?
Abid Ali | Player of the Match: My plan was to initially to have a partnership with Azhar bhai. The wicket was a little slow and we decided we need to take our time. I was committed to stay till the end. I have been practicing very hard for the last two three months. Obviously, it means a lot for me and family to get a double ton. I worked hard with the coaches at NHPC (National High Performance Centre). I wanted to score long. I had some self belief after getting a fifty in the first Test.
Hasan Ali | Player of the Series: It’s been a good tour for me. The pitch wasn’t good to bowl. The plan was simple, keep bowling stump to stump. I want to thank the other bowlers too who supported me. Shaheen and Nauman bowled well. I am very happy, I worked hard in the last one year. Looking forward to win more matches for my team.
Brendan Taylor | Zimbabwe captain: I would have liked a few more positives. To finish both games in three days and just after three days, we were a little bit off the mark. We have got a lot of things to address, particularly with the batting, maybe the mental side of it, little bit more discipline. The wicket played well enough to take it five days. But I can’t fault the guys’s effort, it’s a young side, full of enthusiasm and wanting to get better day by day. That side, I am proud of it. They (Pakistan) are very skilful, disciplined bowlers. If you just try to survive, it can be a bit tricky. I just tried to take the attack to them and then hoped things would ease up a little bit and field would spread.
Babar Azam | Pakistan captain: The partnership between Abid Ali and Azhar was crucial. In the end, it was an outstanding performance from Nauman too. The way Abid showed character was good to see, he’s worked really hard. It’s a good sign to see the openers performing. Also, the confidence of our batsmen will be high and we have an important series in West Indies coming up as well.
