Former India pacer Munaf Patel will be a part of the inaugural Lankan Premier League’s auctions scheduled to take place on October 1.
apart from Munaf, West Indies T20 maestro Chris Gayle and Daren Sammy will also go under the hammer while former Pakistan all-rounder Shahid Afridi, Bangladesh all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan, West Indies batsman Darren Bravo, England’s Ravi Bopara, New Zealand player Colin Munro and South Africa’s Vernon Philander are also in the auction list.
There would be five franchises in the inaugural LPL and the tournament will take place between November 14 and December 6.
Munaf Patel retired from international cricket in 2017 after playing 13 Tests, 70 ODIs and three T20Is for India. He was also a part of the Indian team that won the World Cup in 2011 under MS Dhoni’s captaincy.
Each franchise can buy up to six international players while they can have a total squad of 19 players. However, the Sri Lankan government is yet to give approval for a shorter quarantine period for players, officials and broadcast staff.
