MS Dhoni is arguably one of the best all time batsmen in White ball cricket, He has scored more than 10,000 runs in his ODI Career at an average of more than 50. Ex India player and his former teammate Gautam Gambhir feels that the immensely talented Dhoni would have broken many more records and had he continued to bat at number 3 slot for the Indian team.

Dhoni made headlines when he scored swashbuckling knocks of 143, and 183, against the potenr bowling attacks of Pakistan and Sri lanka early on in his career. But once he cemented his place and became a senior pro he never batted at number 3 slot and allowed young players to bat top of the order.

Developing himself as one of the greatest finishers in limited overs cricket. Gambhir who played a lot of cricket with Dhoni said fans missed Dhoni batting at number 3 for India. He would have been a really exciting player to watch had he continued to play at the no 3 slot.

The wicket keeper batsman always prefered to bat lower down and finish matches for his team. Though he had an average of 82 at no 3 slot.”probably he would have got many more runs and broken many more records, and would have been one of the most exciting players in world cricket had he continued to bat at no 3 for India. Dhoni batting on flat wickets at No 3,now in world cricket against present opposition bowling attacks like SriLanka, Bangladesh ,West Indies and Pakistan, Dhoni would have broken many records” stated Gambhir.
