Former India opener Gautam Gambhir has labeled MS Dhoni “lucky” and suggested that he won the three ICC trophies because he had a talented team. Speaking on Star Sports Show Cricket Connected, Gambhir said, “Dhoni has been a very lucky captain because he got an amazing team in every format.”

Gambhir also credited former India captain Sourav Ganguly for Dhoni’s success. Gambhir and Dhoni had played together for India for a very long time.

In fact, the former left-handed batsman was a part of the Indian setup that won the World T20 in 2007 and the 50-over World Cup in 2011. He scored half-centuries in each of the games for India.

Gambhir also revealed that while he shared the room with Dhoni, the two batsmen only talked about ‘hair’. Gambhir scored 97 in the 2011 final while skipper MS notched up 91* to see India home in Mumbai.

Dhoni has also led India in the Champions Trophy 2013 triumph.

Former Indian captain has not played since the 2019 World Cup Semi-finals exit to New Zealand. Everyone was looking towards MS Dhoni playing in the 2020 edition. CSK is the most successful side in IPL history reaching the playoffs stage in every edition of the prestigious tournament.

The 13th edition of the IPL depends upon the cancellation of the ICC World T20 to be played in Australia from October- November this year. With the coronavirus pandemic situation, it is likely that World T20 would be postponed or canceled.
