Former India captain Rahul Dravid has made a revelation about MS Dhoni and why the world cup-winning skipper has such high success rate.
According to Dravid Dhoni doesn’t really think much about the result. “You watch MS Dhoni play during the backend of a match when he was at his best, you always felt like that he is doing something really important to him but he is playing it like the result does not really matter to him,” Dravid told Sanjay Manjrekar during a videocast hosted by ESPNCricinfo.
Dhoni has played under Dravid’s captaincy and was a part of the squad in ICC World Cup 2007 where India bowed out of the tournament in the very first round. They first lost to Bangladesh and then to Sri Lanka while their only win came against Bermumda.
A few months later, Dhoni was handed India’s leadership and he led the side to win the inaugural World T20 in South Africa. Four years later, Dhoni’s side lifted the ICC World Cup 2011 after 28 years while won the Champions Trophy in 2013.
Dhoni has also led his Chennai Super Kings (CSK) to three IPL titles. Only Mumbai Indians have won more title than CSK which is four.
The wicket-keeper batsman has been out of action for quite sometime. He last played for India in the World Cup 2019 semi-final that they lost to New Zealand. He hasn’t been in action since then. Though, he did start with the training regime at Chepauk stadium ahead of the IPL but the cash-rich league was postponed for an indefinite time due to COVID-19 outburst.
