The speculations about MS Dhoni’s retirement has been doing the rounds for a very long time now and once again the former skipper’s CSK teammate Harbhajan Singh has made a statement about his retirement.
According to Bhajji, Dhoni has played his last game for India. Though, he would surely play the IPL but it is unlikely that he would don the Indian jersey once again.
“As far as I know, he doesn’t want to. Usne khel liya hain India ke liye (he’s done playing for India), and as far as I know him, I don’t think he would want to wear the blue jersey again,” Bhajji said.
Dhoni last played for India in the semi-final of the World Cup 2019 after which The Men in Blue bowed out of the tournament. The agressove right-handed batsman has been out of action since then.
He missed the New Zealand tour earlier this year where India won the T20I series but lost the ODIs and Tests. Dhoni’s name later also missed the squad list for the South Africa ODIs at home, the series that was eventually called-off.
The ex-captain was also ommitted from the list of the BCCI’s contracted players.
Though, Dhoni did begin with his practice with the CSK team at the Chepauk stadium before the IPL was postponed for an indefinite time.
