India skipper Virat Kohli has always talked about how intelligent MS Dhoni is when it comes down to game plans. A number of former cricketing greats have said that it should be Dhoni who should decide on his retirement plans and have certainly dismissed the specualtions of him leaving the game.
Now Pakistan wicket-keeper batsman Kamran Akmal has put his weight behind Dhoni and has said that he would be the first-choice wicket-keeper for India in the World T20.
“@kamiAkmal23 Who do you think should be India’s wicketkeeper for T20 World Cup 2020?”, was the question.
“i think it should be MS Dhoni & 2nd option KL Rahul,” Kamran Akmal replied.
Though the tournament is under dark clouds after the COVID-19 outburst. Dhoni has been out of action since a very long time. He last played the game against New Zealand in the World Cup semi-final last year and hasn’t taken the field since then.
The wicket-keeper batsman was expected to return during the IPL. He even started with his training at the Chepaul stadium but the Coronavirus outburst forced the board to postpone the cash-rich league for an indefinite time. Dhoni missed the tour to New Zealand this year where India won the T20Is but suffered a defeat in the Tests and ODIs while he also missed the bus for South Africa ODI series at home.
Dhoti’s name was earlier omitted from the list of BCCI’s contracted players.
