Former India skipper MS Dhoni hung his boots on Saturday. Dhoni made the announcement on social media. While the former captain is known for his decision-making ability, Dhoni showed the glimpse of his leadership during the World T20 final in South Africa in 2007.

India were playing Pakistan in the summit clash. Pakistan needed 13 runs off the last over and Dhoni handed the ball to Joginder Sharma.

India eventually won the match by 5 runs but the decision of giving the ball to Sharma was a risk one as per the pundits.

The medium pace bowler though while talking to The Hindustan Times told that Dhoni didn’t resist in giving hime the deciding over.

Dhoni did not hesitate before giving me the ball. Pakistan needed 13 runs from the last over, and he told me, “don’t think about the runs that they need, think about your bowling. If you get hit, don’t over-think, just concentrate on the next ball. Whatever is the result, be confident you have my support,” told Sharma.

Dhoni is now the only player to have fininshed his career with an average of 50 and 10000 runs ODI runs. He is infact ahead of Sachin Tendulkar in this list.

Dhoni will play the Indian Premier League (IPL). He was out of action since India’s loss to New Zealand in the World Cup 2019 semi-final.
