A lot has been talked about MS Dhoni’s comeback to the Indian team. Dhoni’s future was under dark clouds when the IPL 2020 was postponed fir an indefinite time due to the COVID019 outburst.
But with IPL to begin later this year in UAE, there is a ray of hope among Dhoni’s fans that the wicket-keeper batsman could still make a return back to the Indian side.
Putting weight behind Dhoni, former India opener Gautam Gambhir has backed his former captain and said that if he is fit and in-form, the aggressive batsman can still be picked in the Indian side.
“Age is just a number. I think if you are in a very good form if you are hitting the ball really well. MS Dhoni, if he is hitting the ball really well, if he is very good form, if he is enjoying the game and if he thinks that he can still win the game for the country at that number – especially at six and seven,” Gautam Gambhir at Star Sports show ‘Cricket Connected’.
Gambhir has been part of the Indian setup during the World T20 in 2007 and the ICC World Cup in 2011 led by Dhoni.
MS hasn’t played a single match since India’s exclusion from the World Cup 2019. He last donned the Indian jersey in the semi-final of the WC 2019 against New Zealand that India lost.
Dhoni had earlier begun to practice with his CSK franchise side at the Chepauk stadium before the lockdown was announced.
