India fast bowler Mohammed Shami’s visa to travel with the Indian team to US was rejected due to unfavorable police records.

Shami’s initial application for the visa was rejected by the US embassy in Mumbai as the fast bowler has been charge-sheeted by Kolkata police under Section 498A (dowry harassment) and 354A (sexual harassment) based on FIR filed by estranged wife Hasin Jahan, last year.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) intervened in the matter and sorted the case.

India wil begin the series against West Indies on August 3.
