England went 1-0 up in the five-match T20I series against New Zealand in Christchurch on Friday after beating the hosts by 7 wickets. Chasing 154, England went over the line in the 19th over, courtesy a 38-ball 59 from James Vince.
Apart from Vince, captain Eoin Morgan struck a brisk 21-ball 34* while Jonny Bairstow scored 35 off 28. For New Zealand, it was Mitchell Santner who scalped all the three wickets. Earlier, New Zealand scored 153/5 in 20 overs after Ross Tayloe struck 44 in 25 deliveries.
The two teams will now meet in Wellington on Sunday for the second encounter.
