The brutal incident in the United States of America has unfolded the problem of racisim all around the globe. The celebrities from all over have been pretty vocal about the same.
Meanwhile, West Indies all-rounder Darren Sammy who was a part of the Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) franchise revealed that he and Thisara Perera too faced racisim during the IPL.
Sammy said that he was called “kalu” while playing for SRH but didn’t respond then because he didn’t know the meaning of the word. But he has now come up with the revalation and posted a video on the social media as well.

So recently I discovered a word that I was being called was not what it actually meant I need some answers. So before I start calling out names I need these individuals to reach out and please tell me there’s another meaning to that word and when I was being called it,it was all in love. #blackandproud #blackandconfident #clarasboy #saynotoracism #stopracism #cricketer #stlucia
While Sammy spoke about this, a picture from India fast bowler Ishant Sharma’s profile went viral. The picture shows Ishant with Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Sammy and Dale Steyn.
The caption of the picture reads, “Me, bhuvi, kaluu and gun sunrisers”.
Sammy had earlier urged the ICC and the entire cricket fraternity to raise their voice against Racism across the world,or else be ready to be considered “a part of the problem.”
Sammy pointed out that Racism is not limited to America, but blacks all over the world have to deal with this social evil on a regular basis.
Star west Indian player and Sammy’s former team mate Chris Gayle also expressed solidarity with the campaign , alleging that he was subjected to “Racial remarks many times in his career, racism is not limited to football it’s in cricket too.”
