There has been a lot of criticism about the former players not getting a proper send-off by the BCCI. Last week, former skipper MS Dhoni and Suresh Raina too hung their boots from international cricket after posting a social media message.
Now, former all-rounder Irfan Pathan has come up with a unique way of giving the former cricketers a proper farewell. He has proposed an exhibition match between the former cricketers and current players.
Many people are talking about a farewell game for retired players who didn't get a proper send-off from the game. How about a charity cum farewell game from a team consisting of retired players vs the current Indian team? pic.twitter.com/diUiLXr9XQ— Irfan Pathan (@IrfanPathan) August 22, 2020
The list of former cricketers include Gautam Gambhir, Virender Sehwag, Rahul Dravid, VVS Laxman, Yuvraj Singh, Suresh Raina, MS Dhoni, Irfan Pathan, Ajit Agarkar, Zaheer Khan and Pragyan Ojha.
Ofcourse, the captain and wicket-keeper of this side would be Dhoni. Gambhir, Sehwag, Yuvraj, Raina and Zaheer were a part of the Indian setup that won the World Cup 2011 while the above mentioned players excluding Zaheer also played a massive role in India’s World T20 triumph in 2007.
Apart from them, Pathan and Agarkar too played the tournament.
Raina and Dhoni are still available to play the IPL and will be seen wearing the Chennai Super Kings’ jersey in the IPL 2020 which is scheduled to take place in UAE from September 19.
