Former India fast bowler Irfan Pathan has been one of the players who hasn’t really indulged in any controversy but the social media users have now attracted a fuss.
Pathan had earlier said that it was Sachin Tendulkar’s idea to ask him to bat at number three during his playing days and not Greg Chappell. He further said that the former Australian cricketer and India coach is targeted easily.
“It’s not true that Greg Chappell spoiled my career. Since he was not from India, it is easier to make him a punching bag.”
The statements though didn’t really get well with some social media users and they compared Pathan to Hafiz Saeed.
The former left-handed cricketer took notice of this and posted a screengrab of the comment.
Hafiz Saeed is a Pakistani Islamic militant and also the co-founder of terrorist organisations like Lashkar-e-Taiba and Jama’at-ud-Da’wah, operating mainly from Pakistan.
Irfan had a brilliant career for India and was a part of the squad that won the World T20 title in 2007. In 29 Test matches, he scalped 100 wickets for the side while picked 173 in 120 ODIs. In 24 T20Is, Pathan had 28 scalps.
