The IPL 2020 auctions that were held in Kolkata on Thursday saw some new names in the franchises’ tally. Some uncapped Indian players too left a mark after receiving the handsome amount at the auctions. Here’s a look.
The newly named India U19 skipper Priyam Garg who will be leading the side in the World Cup next year was bought by Sunrisers Hyderabad for a sum of INR 1.90 Cr.
Mumbai’s Yashasvi Jaiswal caught everyone’s eye after he became the youngest male cricketer to score a double ton in List A cricket. Yashasvi scored 203 against Jharkhand in the Vijay Hazare trophy 2019-20. The left-handed batsman continued his good form against the Afghanistan U19 and eventually earned himself a place in the U19 team that will play the World Cup next year.
Jaiswal snapped a sum of INR 2.4 Crore after he was picked by Rajasthan Royals.
Kartik Tyagi is another name who earned a place for himself in the U19 World Cup squad to represent India. Hailing from UP, Tyagi was sold for INR 1.3 Crore to Rajasthan Royals
A leggie who plays for Rajasthan in the limited-overs cricket, Ravi Bishnoi is also a member of the Priyam Garg-led Indian U19 side. Bishnoi was sold to Kings XI Punjab for INR 2 Crore.
Varun Chakravarthy sold to KKR for INR 400L.
After some brilliant performances with the bat in the domestic circuit, Jharkhand’s Virat Singh has finally found his name in the ranks of Sunrisers Hyderabad who bought him for a sum of INR 190L.
While Jaiswal, Garg, Bishnoi and Tyagi would seek to leave a mark if they get a chance in the upcoming IPL edition, Virat Singh would be looking to grab the opportunity with both hands.
