India were in control at the end of the second day of the first Test against West Indies after reducing the hosts to 189/8 in Antigua. In reply to India’s 297, West Indies surrendered against the visitors’ fast bowling line up.

The home side lost wickets quickly and were reeling at 130/5 when Shimron Hetmyer and Shai Hope came for the rescue.

The two put a partnership of 44 runs before Hope departed for 24. For India, it was Ishant Sharma who returned with a fifer.

Earlier, India rode on half-centuries from Ajinkya Rahane and Ravindra Jadeja to put a decent total on the board.
