India had a good day at the office against South Africa on the second of the first Test after they reduced the visitors to 39/3 in Vizag. The spin duo of R Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja shared all the wickets in the first innings so far.

Earlier, India continued the innings from an overnight score of 202/0 and posted 502/7 (D). Openers Mayank Agarwal and Rohit Sharma came together and stitched a record-breaking partnership of 317 for the first wicket.

Agarwal struck a double ton and joined an elite club of converting a maiden century into double-hundred. On the other side, Sharma too scored 176. The home side then lost some wickets in quick succession while accelerating but they were still in control. Later, Jadeja and Ashwin did the job with the ball before the stumps were called.
