India fought their way back on the first day of the third Test match against South Africa in Ranchi before stumps were called due to rain. India ended the first day’s proceedings at 224/3.
Earlier, after winning the toss, Virat Kohli opted to bat first but Kagiso Rabada went through the Indian batting line up to reduced them to 16/2.

Later, India also lost captain Kohli for just 12 to his name but opener Rohit Sharma and vice-captain Ajinkya Rahane held on to the innings and steadied the ship for their side. Local boy, Shahbaz Nadeem made his Test debut in this match.
Sharma went on to score his 6th Test hundred while Rahane remained unbeaten at 83. India have already clinched the three-match series after beating the Proteas in the first two matches.
