India took the 1-0 lead in the three-match T20I series against South Africa after beating them by 7 wickets in Mohali on Wednesday. Chasing a total of 150, the hosts rode on skipper Virat Kohli’s half-centuryto go past the line.

Earlier, South Africa started the proceedings well after being put into bat by Kohli. Captain Quinton de Kock and Temba Bavuma stitched a partnership of 57 runs but the Proteas then lost wickets in quick succession and were restricted to 149/5 in allotted 20 overs.

The two sides will now play the third game in Bengaluru on Sunday.
