India went 1-0 up in the three-match series against South Africa after beating them by 203 runs in the first Test. Chasing a mammoth 395, the South African team was bundled out for 191 in the second innings. Mohammed Shami scalped a fifer while Ravindra Jadeja picked four wickets in the second innings.

Earlier, South Africa began the final day at 11/1 but were soon reduced to 70/8. Senuran Muthusamy and Dane Piedt then joined hands to frustrate the Indian bowlers and steadied the ship for their side. The two put up a partnership of 91 for the ninth wicket before Shami got rid of Piedt. Piedt was cleaned up for 56.

The two teams will now meet each other for the second Test scheduled to begin from October 10.
