India went 1-0 up in the three-match series against South Africa after beating them by 203 runs in the first Test. Chasing a mammoth 395, the South African team was bundled out for 191 in the second innings. Mohammed Shami scalped a fifer while Ravindra Jadeja picked four wickets in the second innings.
Earlier, South Africa began the final day at 11/1 but were soon reduced to 70/8. Senuran Muthusamy and Dane Piedt then joined hands to frustrate the Indian bowlers and steadied the ship for their side. The two put up a partnership of 91 for the ninth wicket before Shami got rid of Piedt. Piedt was cleaned up for 56.
Superb bowling by @MdShami11. Where spinners were expected to dominate on the last day, he’s bagged 5 wickets. Some other sterling Indian performances too, Agarwal scoring double ton, spin twins Ashwin and Jadeja brilliant in tandem. But MoM surely @ImRo45 for his 2 tons— Cricketwallah (@cricketwallah) October 6, 2019
The two teams will now meet each other for the second Test scheduled to begin from October 10.
