
India’s limited-overs vice-captain Rohit Sharma has been ruled out of the ODI and Test series against New Zealand after sustaining a calf injury during the final T20I on Sunday.
Rohit who scored 60* before getting retired hurt at Bay Oval, Mount Maunganui will be out of the tour, a BCCI source confirmed. “He is out of the tour,” the source told PTI on conditions of anonymity.
The Indian team has been suffering with injury concerns after opener Shikhar Dhawan and Hardik Pandya missed the recent series while Rohit became the latest addition to the list.
Shubman Gill is set to replace Sharma for the Test series and the news was confirmed by BCCI President Sourav Ganguly on Monday evening. Gill who is already in New Zealand has been in sublime form and recently struck an unbeaten double ton against New Zealand A for India A in a drawn four-day match.
