Former India paceman Zaheer Khan feels that Jasprit Bumrah needs to be “more aggressive” and take “extra risks” if he wants to get positive results in the upcoming Test series against New Zealand away from home.
Bumrah was out of action for almost four months with a stress fracture and came back to the side against New Zealand in the ODIs. Bumrah’s form was hindered by the injury and this pretty evident in the series after he went wicket-less and gave away 167 runs in 30 overs.
“When you build a reputation like how Jasprit Bumrah has built now over the years, you will have to fight this,” Zaheer was quoted as saying by ‘cricbuzz.com’.
India lost the ODI series 0-3 and Bumrah’s form was a major cause of this if the pundits are to be believed. Bumrah went wicket-less while skipper Virat Kohli didn’t score runs during the course.
The two teams will now meet each other in a two-match Test series scheduled to begin from February 21 in Wellington.
