Talented Indian opener Rohit Sharma, was forced to return after the initial part of India’s tour of New Zealand, due to a calf injury.

He only played in the 20/20s series. After that, he was set to miss the Home ODI series against the South Africans as well, because the calf injury had not healed fully.Fortunately for him this ODI series was eventually, canceled due to Corona Pandemic.

Rohit said he had regained match fitness before the lock down happened and was all set to undergo an intensive fitness test which was to go on for a week.

But due to Corona lockdown the test could not be conducted and everything was pushed back.

Rohit declared that once things got back to normal,he would report to NCA at Bangalore for his Fitness test,on clearing the same he hoped to link up with his teammates for duties with the National team.

Since Mumbai is one of the worst affected cities by Corona ,it might take him more time than his teammates in other lesser affected cities,to resume regular training.

Meanwhile , Maharashtra Government, has allowed opening of stadiums for individual training in green and orange zones, but without spectators.Thid was after Home Ministry, offered relaxation in restrictions in the fourth phase of lockdown.

Rohit said he really missed hanging around with his teammates and having a banter with them, but they all were trying to keep updated with each others activities thru video calls etc.

Playing and travelling together for most part of the year, made the players and support staff, like an extended family. So all the players were missing each other and looking forward to training and playing together.

Rohit said that during the Corona lockdown he had paid special attention to his diet as it was easy to put on weight if one was at home and doing nothing. He exercised in the mini-gym at home, and also did regular running in the 50mtrs distance available in his house.
