Former Sunrisers Hyderabad all-rounder Darren Sammy made headlines a couple of days back when he opened up about racisim in the Indian Premier League (IPL).

To add to this, a photo from India fast bowler and Sammy’s former teammate Ishant Sharma’s Instagram went viral where he has used the word “kalu” for the West Indies cricketer. Sammy suggested that he didn’t he really know the meaning of the word then.

But after knowing what it means, the right-handed all-rounder did criticise the use of it.

Later, after having a discussion with of the teammates, Sammy tweeted that he had “a really interesting conversation”.

Sammy commented in the wake of the death of George Floyd,the American African who was left gasping for breath when a white, police officer pressed his knee to his neck last week.

Sammy wrote a series of heartfelt posts on social media deploring the act and highlighting the sufferings of blacks across the world.

He urged the ICC and the entire cricket fraternity to raise their voice against Racism across the world,or else be ready to be considered “a part of the problem.”
