Former Australia captain Steve Smith turned 31 on Tuesday. Smith is known for his brilliant batting ability especially in the longer format of the game but the right-handed batsman was banned from the game for sometime after the sand-paper controversy.
Though, he made a strong comeback to international cricket. The Australian is always compared to Indian skipper Virat Kohli for his batting talent. While the social media and fans have indulged in this debate quite a number of times, it seems that the two cricketers share a very different bond.
Smith while talking in Sony Ten Pit Stop said that he really admires Kohli for his fitness and passion for the game.
“I admire Virat (Kohli) a lot, he is an amazing player. His body seems to have transformed over time and he looks so fit and powerful,” he said.
While Smith was all in praise of Kohli, the Indian captain once showed great sportsmanship during their World Cup 2019 match against Australia.
Smith was being booed by the crowd during the match when Kohli came in his support and asked the fans to laud the cricketer instead.
