MS Dhoni made his ODI debut in 2004. He came as a breath of fresh air with his long colored mane, his aggressive batting style and smart keeping. It is heard that the then Chief Selector Fillip Vengssrkar strongly recommended his case.

After making his position safe in the Indian team, in all formats, Dhoni began to flower and impress cricket lovers with his immense potential in batting and keeping.

With passing time Dhoni on the basis of sheer performance acquired the tag of a finisher, he remained cool and unperturbed in critical situations and invariably delivered the goods. It was this quality of his that made him the prime candidate for captaincy which he rightfully deserved.

Dhoni contributed the most as Captain in all formats. He was cool unruffled, and graceful. Respected by opponents and loved by his team and the whole of India. He can easily be clubbed as India’s Most Successful Captain. Under him, India won almost all the formats.

Apart from being a great Captain and player.I feel his greatness lay in the fact that Dhoni was a true role model for youngsters and team members, he was never involved in any sort of controversy,or any action that would bring disrepute to the game or his Country, he was a great player who despite his greatness was humble down to earth and cheerful.

Players like him come once in many many years, we were indeed lucky he was born in our country.
