Former India captain MS Dhoni is known to nurture the young talents and give them space to prove their worth in the side. Talking about something similar, the Chinaman spinner Kuldeep Yadav in a recent interview with NDTV said that Dhoni is always there to help him and Yuzvendra Chahal.
“Whenever I played with Dhoni, I never felt the absence of my coach, because he would speak to me like one and give me a lot of advice. He would always tell me to focus on spinning the ball, and from behind the wickets, he would release a lot of pressure,” Kuldeep Yadav said in an interview with NDTV.
Kuldeep has achieved massive success in a very short spell of time in the Indian team. He also recalled an incident before his Test debut when Anil Kumble asked him to scalp a fifer. Kuldeep responded in affirmative.
The left-handed spinner became the first Indian bowler to pick up two international hattricks. His first ODI hattrick came against Australia in 2017 while the second against West Indies in 2019.
He has played just 6 Test matches for India and already has 24 dismissals to his name including a couple of five-wicket hauls while in 60 ODIs, Kuldeep has picked 104 wickets.
In the T20Is, the spinner has 39 wickets in 21 appearances.
