Former India pacer Irfan Pathan revealed one incident when MS Dhoni lost his cool. Dhoni though is considered to be somebody who is pretty calm and composed while being on the field.
“It was in 2006-07. During the warm-up, we had a game where the right-handed batsman would bat with the left-handed batsman and vice-versa. After we finished the warm-up, we used to get into our practice. So, during the warm-ups, there were two teams. Once MS Dhoni was given out which he didn’t think he was. He threw his bat and made a dash to the dressing room and came late for the practice. So, he does get angry,” Pathan said on Star Sports show Cricket Connected.
Pathan announced his retirement from the game sometime back while Dhoni has been out of the Indian sider since their exit from World Cup 2019 after losing to New Zealand in the semi-final.
Dhoni and Pathan have played together for India. The left-handed bowler was a part of the Indian setup that won the World T20 back in 2007 under Dhoni’s captaincy. Both the players have also shared the dug out in the Indian Premier League (IPL) while playing for PuneSuper Giant and Chennai Super Kings.
The lockdown in the world due to COVID-19 outburst has forced the start of the IPL to get delayed. The cash-rich league was scheduled to begin in March-end but was initially potsponed till April 14 and then eventually it was postponed was an indefinite time.
Dhoni who is the captain of the CSK side began practicing with the team in Chepauk earlier but had to abondon it as soon as the lockdown was announced. The right-handed aggressive batsman was also omitted from the list of BCCI’s contracted players.
Dhoni has led India to World Cup 2011 and Champions Trophy 2013 winning triumph while he led CSK to three titles in the IPL.
