We all are aware of the fact that former India captain MS Dhoni was once a goalkeeper in his school’s football team and it was his coach Banerjee who realised his talent and got him into the game. Well, Mr. Banerjee’s certainly gave a new shape to Indian cricket as Dhoni led India to win triumph in three ICC tournaments.
His first tournament win as captain came in 2007 with the World T20 while the 50-over World Cup in 2011 and Champions Trophy 2013 followed later.
But there was someone else who wanted to be a cricketer in his early days but eventually ended up being a goalkeeper. India goalkeeper Gurpreet Singh Sandhu once wanted to be a cricketer.
The 6ft 5inch-player posted a picture on his Twitter account that was captioned, “While MS Dhoni wanted to be a goalkeeper, I had other plans as a kid.”

Dhoni has been out of action since India’s exit from the World Cup 2019 after losing to New Zealand in the semi-final. He also missed India’s tour to New Zealand while was also not on the team sheet for the South Africa ODIs that were later canceled due to COVID-19 outbreak.
he was also ommitted from the BCCI’s centrally contracted players list. Though, the right-handed aggressive batsman began traing in Chepauk with his CSK teammates ahead of the IPL but the cash-rich league was later postponed indefinitely due to Coronavirus outburst.
