The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has made a strong statement after replying to Pakistan Cricket Board’s demand of not facing any problems to get the visas for the 2021 and 2023 World Cups.
The BCCI official talking to IANS firmly said that can PCB give assurance of no more terror attacks in India.
“Can the PCB give assurance in writing that the Pakistan government would ensure that no illegal incursions into India take place from the Pakistani side or that there’s no violation of the cease-fire or that no act of terror takes place on Indian soil originating in Pakistan or that no repeat of Pulwama type incident takes place?” BCCI official said.
Earlier, PCB had asked the International Cricket Council (ICC) to get a written assurance from Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) that the side wouldn’t face any difficluty in getting the visas to play the two world cups in 2021 and 2023.
The ICC though is yet to decide upon the venue of 2021 World T20. As per the schedule, it is slated to take place in India but the COVID-19 outburst has left the 2020 edition of the tournament under some doubts.
The 2020 World T20 is so far scheduled to take place in Australia later this year.
Pakistan had earlier approached India for bilateral ties but the current strained relations between the two countries have forced the series to not take place anywhere in the near future.
Earlier, former Pakistan fast bowler said that a bilateral tie between the two countries might help to create raise funds in this difficult situation. Though, the right-arm seamer has faced the heat for this statement on social media.
