Former Australia spinner Brad Hogg has picked the better white-ball player among India captain Virat Kohli and his limited-overs deputy Rohit Sharma.
The left-arm spinner picked Kohli over Sharma as he said that the Indian captain has the ability to chase down the target given to him.
“Well, Virat Kohli, because he’s more consistent when India has the big run chases,” Hogg said on his YouTube channel.
The spinner also stated that the two batsmen have different roles to play in the Indian team. While Kohli has been consistent when it comes down to chasing a certain target, Rohit has been the man of big scores.
Sharma holds the record for the highest individual score by a batsman in ODIs which 264* that came against Sri Lanka and has also hit the most number of double tons (3) in ODI cricket.
Kohli on the other side holds the record for the fastest ODI hundred for India. The right-handed batsman achieved the feat in 52 balls against Australia and surpassed Virender Sehwag’s record.
The India captain is presently the No. 1 ODI batsman in the world while Rohit is at two.
The cricket and sporting action has been on a break after the COVID-19 outbreak. India toured New Zealand earlier this year where they won the T20Is but lost the ODIs and Tests. They were later slated to play a three-match ODI series at home but the first match was washed away due to rain while the other two were canceled due to coronavirus outbreak.
The Indian Premier League (IPL) was also postponed for an indefinite time earlier.
